Virtual Runner

You can still support our Aid the Silent kiddos by participating in our Virtual 5k and 10k race. We know many of you are located throughout the United States and many overseas. Our goal is to have one runner/walker in every state and if we could reach at least a few supporters in various countries that would be phenomenal.

What is a virtual race?

Great question! If you are not able to make the race here in Boerne, TX on June 1, 2024 at 8 AM, running virtually is a great option. You would simply walk or run the 5k or 10k on race day (or that weekend) from wherever you are.

How do I sign up?

Fill out the form, click “REGISTER NOW” and pay the fee. Share in the fun by printing out your bib, run the race, take a selfie, and hashtag your pics #aidthesilent #showyouraids #98percent.

What time do I run?

If you are running virtually, you can run (or walk) any time that fits your schedule. It is always fun to run at the same time as the actual race and post your photos so we can share them at the time it is happening. However, the beauty of running virtually is you get to pick the time!

Do you need proof that I ran?

Not at all, we appreciate your support! However, we would love to see your photos so if you have social media, please post a photo and tag us in it. Also be sure and hashtag #ATS5k #aidthesilent #98percent #showyouraids

Do I need a bib?

No you don’t, however, we have provided a downloadable pdf on this site that can be printed out at home and pinned on shirt to wear.

Do I turn in my time?

No, this is a chipped timed race , thus it is measured electronically.
Chip timing precisely measures race results by registering a race chip as the runner crosses RFID timing mats located throughout the race course. Each runners individual clock starts as soon as they pass over the mats located at the starting line, and likewise ends as they cross the mats at the finish line. Due to this, virtual runners cannot participate in the placement categories.

When will I get my t-shirt?

If you are out of the area, the t-shirt will be mailed between May 29 – June 1. We have to wait until as late as possible to place the order so that we can be sure as many runners who have registered are able to get a t-shirt. If you are local and would like to pick up your packet in person at one of the packet pick-up locations – please email development@aidthesilent.org by May 30th to ensure you packet is not mailed.

Will I get a medal?

Only (D)deaf and hard-of-hearing get participation medals. All other medals are placement medals based on chipped timed scores.

Will you mail my packet to me?

If you are local, we encourage you to come to one of the packet up locations. Please email development@aidthesilent.org by Wednesday, June 1st to ensure you packet is not mailed.
We love for people to pick up in person for couple of reasons: One being, you will get your packet on time and secondly, this is a fundraiser for our deaf and hard-of-hearing children and teens and this allows us to save money by not mailing. If you are out-of-state or not in the area, your packet will be mailed to you the Wednesday before the race USPS. Due to it going through the US Post Office, we do not have a tracking system to estimate arrival times.

Can I donate to help cover the shipping costs?

Yes please, being a non-profit we are always looking for ways to help with expenses so we can be good stewards and put more funding towards our mission. Go to aidthesilent.com/giving to donate.

What do I get?
  • An awesome feeling of support for the deaf and hard-of-hearing community
  • A good workout
  • An Aid the Silent 5K tee
